Except for emergencies you will need to make an appointment to see the doctor.
We ask that wherever possible you book your appointment in advance, either on-line (see the section below), at our reception desk or by telephone.
Urgent Advice and Appointments
If you wish to be seen or get advice on the day, please telephone the practice as early as possible. We will then arrange for one of our clinical staff, to phone you back as soon as possible to discuss treatment options. Sometimes this will be an appointment to see a doctor, sometimes to see a nurse and sometimes advice.
If an urgent appointment is needed then we will give you a time to attend. We will always see urgent appointments the same day.
Booking Ahead
Please try to help us by giving as much notice as possible if you need to be seen for routine matters (for example if your doctor asks you to return to see them at some time in the future to review your treatment). You can book up to 1 month in advance.
If you cannot keep an appointment that you have previously booked then please tell us as early as possible so that it can be used for someone else.
We encourage our patients to see the same GP each time that they attend for an appointment, although we recognise that this is not always possible and that sometimes you want to change. We also understand that you may want to see a same-sex doctor for certain problems particularly if an examination might be required. All patients are free to choose which of the GPs they wish to see at any time. Please tell the receptionist at the time you make your appointment.
Telephone Consultations
You are welcome to talk to your doctor or one of the nurses over the telephone to discuss a problem or to seek medical advice. Our receptionists will take your details and the doctor or nurse will telephone you back, usually at some time between 12.30pm and 1.30pm
Our switchboard is usually busiest between 8.00am and 9.30am and 1.00pm and 2.30pm and so we would ask you to avoid those times unless it is urgent.
Booking an Appointment Online
You can now book an appointment to see a GP online. We have several hundred patients who are able to do this. It gives you the freedom to book an appointment at any time of the day or week and frees up our receptionists to handle more complex or urgent calls.
Temporary Residents
You are able to consult any local practice when away from home. You can do this by asking to be seen as a ‘’temporary resident’’. We will be happy to see anyone staying with you as temporary residents.
