Putting patients in control of their repeat prescriptions

Many GP surgeries across Nottinghamshire are no longer accepting repeat prescription requests from pharmacies for most patients. Our Doctors are asking patients to order their own medicines using one of the following options.

Online ordering via SystmOnline
Ask at reception for an application form for our online system or download the NHS app

Drop off
Drop off your repeat prescription directly—just post it in the box in reception

Post your repeat prescription request to The surgery at the above address

We will no longer be accepting prescription requests via the pharmacy from 6th January 2020. If you are worried that you or someone you know won’t be able to manage with this change please speak to us

Repeat Prescriptions

You may be allowed to have some treatments on repeat prescriptions, without seeing your doctor (We will want to see you at least once a year if you are on regular medication).

With your prescription you will be given a tear-off slip listing your current medication. If you need repeats of these, please tick the items required and post or hand in to the reception desk. online to be able to order . Unfortunately we do not take repeat prescription requests over the telephone as experience tells us that this can lead to prescribing errors. However you can order your prescriptions on-line - see the link on the home page. Once ordered your  prescription will be available to collect within 48 hours as follows:

Request received by practicePrescription available for collection

If you would like your prescription posted to you please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

Please remember that if you opt to collect your prescription from one of the local pharmacies then you must tell them to collect the prescription from us first - We do not deliver them.

Please help us to minimise the waste of NHS monies by only asking for repeat medications that you currently need.  Please do not ‘stockpile’ medicines in your cupboards ‘just in case’ you might need them in the future. Any unused medicines can be returned to your chemist for safe disposal.

Three things that can help us out

  • Order all of your repeat prescriptions in one go - for most patients this would be every two months. Some of you very considerately order your drugs just when you need them so that there is no possibility of any wastage. We are trying to find a half-way house so that you only have to order medication every two months and we can reduce the number of times we have to process your requests.
  1. Order prescriptions electronically. We understand though that not all of our patients are electronic whizz-kids!
  2. Try to avoid requesting repeat prescriptions in the consultation. We know from your feedback that if there is one thing you would like us to improve it would be for you to be seen on time (although you value the fact that we won't rush your consultation if we are running late). We are therefore trying to avoid giving repeat prescriptions during consultations. We will of course give you prescriptions for anything that we have changed during the consultation.
